Newly Published book edited by professor Mátyás and Chan (Curtin University): Econometrics with Machine Learning

The book Econometrics with Machine Learning edited by László Mátyás, professor of economics at CEU and Felix Chan of Curtin University (Perth, Australia) is published by Springer Nature. It helps and promotes the use of machine learning tools and techniques in econometrics and explains how they can enhance and expand the econometrics toolbox in theory and in practice. Several chapters have been written with the contribution of CEU-Economics faculty and advanced doctoral students.

Peter Hangartner Fellowship recipient

The Department congratulates Yu Xu for receiving the Peter Hangartner Fellowship prize in 2022. The Fellowship is awarded annually to an outstanding second-year student in the MA in Economics program who earns the highest GPA during his/her first year of studies.

Students and faculty from the Department of Economics and Business completed second time Ultra Balaton – 211 kilometers in less than 21 hours

UltraBalaton, one of the longest and most popular ultra and relay running races in Hungary, was held for the 16th time on April 30-May 1. The course started and finished at Balatonfüred, running around the lake through the picturesque hills of the North shore and the spectacular beaches of the South.

The relay team of three students and eight faculty completed the 211 km course in 20 hours and 14 minutes.
