UltraBalaton 2025: CEU Economics Team Sets New Team Record!

May 14, 2025
You only live once!

For the fifth time, students, alumni, and faculty from the Department of Economics at CEU took on one of Hungary’s toughest endurance challenges: UltraBalaton, a 211-kilometer relay race around Lake Balaton. Held on April 26–27, this year’s race was not only a test of stamina and teamwork—but a record-breaking one.

The CEU Economics team completed the loop around Hungary’s largest lake in 18 hours and 50 minutes, setting a new

personal best and finishing 186th out of 1744 teams.

This year’s relay team included:

Niccolò Borri, Ramzi Chariag, Imola Csóka, Evgeny Gushchin, Balázs Kertész, Miklós Koren, Balázs Krusper, Henrika Langen, Róbert Lieli, Tímea Laura Molnár, Mátyás Molnár, László Mátyás and Orhan Olgen.

Congratulations to the team for combining economics and endurance, and showing once again that great minds also make

great runners!
