In January 2010, current Minister of Finance of the Republic of Poland, Jacek Rostowksi (Professor of Economics, CEU - on leave) was named Finance Minister of the Year 2009 for Europe by the Banker magazine, part of the Financial Times' group. Professor Rostowski was appreciated for his quick and accurate response to the economic crisis.
