Gergely Daroczi studied Philosophy and Sociology (MA) at Pazmany Peter Catholic University, finished PhD at Corvinus University, has 10+ years of experience in teaching statistics and quantitative methods, authored a book on "Mastering Data Analysis with R" and contributed to several scientific journal articles, mainly in social sciences but in medical sciences as well.
He started his professional career in 2006 as a data engineer and R programmer contractor working for survey and market research companies, then founded a company doing web-based reporting and R consultancy, where he led a small tech team for 4 years before relocating to Los Angeles to serve as the Lead R Developer and Research Data Scientist, later the Director of Data Analytics at CARD.com. Later he joined System1.com as a Senior Director of Data Operations in Marina del Ray, working remotely from Hungary for 5 years. Currently, he is the technical co-founder of Rx Studio, a precision medicine web application and platform, and he is working on the sides on Spare Cores, an open-source ecosystem designed to provide a comprehensive inventory and performance evaluation of virtual servers across cloud server providers.
Besides maintaining a dozen of open-source R and Python packages, he is an active member of the R community in means of contributing to online forums, such as on StackOverflow and GitHub, attending and speaking at R and data science conferences, and founding the Budapest Users of R Network, the Hungarian R group (with 1700 members), and organized the first satRday conference (200 registrants) and the second eRum conference (500 registrants).
