Please note that we no longer accept applications to this program.
In the context of shifting emphasis away from management education, CEU Senate made a decision to stop recruitment of new candidates to the PhD Administration program.
WHAT COURSES WILL YOU TAKE?
CORE BUSINESS CLASSES
One main part of the curriculum is a set of courses designed to lay the foundation for your research and career. These fundamental business courses provide a wide range of business knowledge that you can use to both study and apply research to various aspects of business. The majority of these courses will be taken with our executive MBA students, given you a chance to learn from real business leaders and to form fruitful collaborations with them.
RESEARCH AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CLASSES
In addition to learning and understanding the fundamentals of business and the issues facing various aspects of any organization, you will dive deep into the research process. In this set of courses, you will learn how to design, conduct, and write up research projects and will begin to think about and work on your dissertation.
FACULTY DOCTORAL SEMINARS
While the Executive MBA courses in the core and research/professional development program form the foundation of disciplinary knowledge, doctoral fellows will also take a series of seminars based on the advanced knowledge of our faculty as it relates to the core disciplines in business and management. Focusing on their specific areas of expertise (see below), each faculty will expose doctoral fellows to the state-of-the-art and seminal literature in their field with a view to providing the basis for advanced research at the dissertation stage of the program.
Examples of faculty doctoral seminars include:
Advanced Topics in Strategy; Advanced Consumer Research; Studying and Improving Institutional Environments; Research in Innovation; International Management and Business Integrity.
ELECTIVES
Since we understand that now all students share the same interests and goals, we also provide the opportunity for our fellows to choose additional courses in any of CEU’s graduate programs to best direct their future. This includes various Master’s and PhD-level courses across several disciplines.
ADDITIONAL CREDIT-BASED ACTIVITIES
Seminar Series in Management
On a bi-monthly basis, a faculty, a guest speaker or a doctoral fellow presents a research paper/project. These seminars are offered simultaneously onsite and online via Zoom
Research or Teaching Assistantship
Each year, doctoral fellows will be paired with a faculty member to provide research assistance on a research project or provide teaching assistance for faculty on a course.
