Dr. Austin Lee Nichols is Associate Professor of Organizational Psychology at CEU.

Prof. Nichols is a social psychologist who has dedicated himself to combining psychological principles and empirical research to improve people’s lives worldwide. He primarily accomplishes this through research on various aspect of leadership, including the personalities that people desire in their leaders and how leaders best manage others' impressions of them. In addition to his focus on leadership, he has researched various topics related to personality, work, health, and research methodology.

He received his Ph.D. in Social Psychology and M.S. in Management from the University of Florida and has taught on these topics in the USA, Spain, Luxembourg, France, Croatia, China, and Bangladesh. He has also presented his research in over a dozen countries around the world and has published over 40 papers in over three dozen international, peer-reviewed journals that include Leadership Quarterly, Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, Journal of Experimental Psychology: General, Journal of Personality Assessment, Personality and Individual Differences, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Leadership & Organization Development Journal, European Journal of Social Psychology, Journal of Personnel Psychology, and International Journal of Social Research Methodology. In addition, he recently coedited a book entitled, “Advanced Research Methods for the Social and Behavioral Sciences” that is published by Cambridge University Press and is currently working on the three-volume "Cambridge Handbook of Research Methods and Statistics for the Social and Behavioral Sciences".

Currently, Prof. Nichols is the Head of the Management Section and Deputy Head of the Department of Economics and Business.
