UltraBalaton 2025: CEU Economics Team Sets New Team Record!

For the fifth time, students, alumni, and faculty from the Department of Economics at CEU took on one of Hungary’s toughest endurance challenges: UltraBalaton, a 211-kilometer relay race around Lake Balaton. Held on April 26–27, this year’s race was not only a test of stamina and teamwork—but a record-breaking one.

 

The CEU Economics team completed the loop around Hungary’s largest lake in 18 hours and 50 minutes, setting a new

personal best and finishing 186th out of 1744 teams.

Attila Lindner is the recipient of the 2024 Gábor Kézdi Outstanding Young Researcher Award, presented by the Hungarian Society of Economics (MKE). This award is given to young Hungarian researchers who, through several studies on a specific topic, have contributed to a better understanding and application of policy options worldwide.

Founded in 1930, the Econometric Society is an international society for the advancement of economic theory in its relation to statistics and mathematics. The main activities of the Society are publication of the journals Econometrica, Quantitative Economics, and Theoretical Economics, publication of a research Monograph Series, organization annually of scientific meetings in six regions of the world, and a World Congress once every five years. For more than 90 years, the Society has been electing Fellows.
